A few projects that have helped make our house feel more like our home....
First up was the laundry room-yeah I know what you are thinking, is this the only room I am going to share with you. No I promise I will show you the other rooms in our house. When I get them more completed to my liking. However, I do spend quite a bit of my time in the Laundry room. Anyway, the paint in there was awful. It felt and looked just like white primer paint. One day, while my mom was here we painted it this pretty gray silver color. Oh so much better. It's amazing what a little paint can do! Then I got some vinyl and and got my hooks up and ta-da-that was it. I still would like to change those gold knobs on the cabinet doors...but other the that this room is done!
Next up was this wall in the dinning room. That lovely speaker gave me some issues...anything square or rectangle shaped looked terrible and made the speaker stand out like a sore thumb. After a week or so I remembered by good friend Tiffany put frames and decorative plates up on her wall. I used her wall as my inspiration and I came up with this. I think its perfect!
In our new house we have a......BASEMENT! Which is our family room/playroom!
When you go down the stairs their is this hallway before it opens up into this huge family room.
So for the hallway this is what I came up with. I just painted the edges of the canvas black, Mod Podged some scrapbook paper onto the canvas then had my good friend Amy do the vinyl letters for me and presto it was done! Super easy and I love it!
A few months after we moved into our Newburgh home we got a piano free on freecycle however, Tom didn't want to move it up here, it was an upright old player piano without the player parts. It was big and heavy. I was kinda sad that we wouldn't have a piano. However, 2 weeks ago, Tom's medical director at work asked him if he would like a piano for free! He knew how much I have missed our old one and so 2 days later he went and picked it up and set it up in our front room! We have all enjoyed having a piano in our home again. Quite often though out the day we will hear one of the kids trying to play, even the youngest one tries!
Oh yeah, slowly but surely we are making our new house into our home.
Plus this past weekend, we finally closed on our Newburgh home...we no longer have a real estate portfolio! It was bittersweet!
