Stories with Santa

Last Friday, we took the kids to the Evansville Central Library to hear Santa read stories and sing songs.

The kids loved it! Santa even told the kids that one of his reindeer names is always mis-pronounced it's 'Donder' not Doner. In German Donder and Blitzen means thunder and lightening which implies that those two reindeer are the fastest. After tells us this he confirmed it by reading 'the Night Before Christmas' the verison illustrated by Jan Brett.

Then each one of the children had a turn to sit on Santa's lap and tell them what they would like for Christmas.

Our little girl sat on his lap first and she told him she wanted a bell, she loved the bells Santa bought with him.

Then J got on Santa's lap and was a little shy but finally told Santa he wanted a Wonderpets Flying Sail Boat. (J's list seems to change every few moments). After they both sat on Santa's lap they were given a free book. It can't get much better then that!

This year the exhibit featured ~690 Creche (Nativity) sets.

While walking around the kids kept pointing to each Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus.

Loves princesses-not so much the movies but the doll figures.

Loves pretties in her hair! Loves having her fingers painted purple.

Enjoys being silly/doing silly tricks and telling us that "this is easy"

Funny sayings she says lately: need sticky tape, that's so amazing and oh my goodness!

She tells her momma often "your my best friend"

Circus

Over the Thanksgiving weekend, we attended the

Hadi Shrine Circus.
This is the first time the kids have EVER been to a circus.

The circus experience started off with a clown asking what kind of balloons they wanted:

J picked a giraffe and K picked a dog

Before the circus started we got to pay some $ to ride an Elephant.

We thought this was great fun...a little bumpy....but good.

The tigers and lion doing their tricks! The kids enjoyed this along with anything dealing with the motorcycles and the Elephants. The circus was a little long but a big bag of popcorn helped the kids keep watching.

Orange Pie

According to J we need an Orange Pie for Thanksgiving and when asked how to make it this was his response:

'you need to mix oranges, milk, eggs and pumpkin place it in the pan and cook it in the oven. Then when its done you take it out and you got orange pie'

Family Visits

The end of October my sister and her family came out to visit for 2 weeks!
We had such a great time visitng and seeing some of the sites that sorround us.

Here are some of the things we did while they were here.

In Indiana: Walking the Ohio River Front and playing at 'Castle Park'

In St. Louis we went to top of the arch, visited the St. Louis Temple, eating a whole lot of Ted Drews Ice Cream, going to the St. Louis Zoo, St. Louis Science Center and the City Museum.

In Kentucky: walking and playing at John James Audubon Park and taking a tour of Mammouth Cave.

We sure do love when we have visitors come hang out with us!

Soccer Season

The soccer season came to an end on October 24, 2009.

We had a lot of fun coming to watch J play soccer this year.

J enjoyed playing soccer this year and looks forward to playing next year.

In his own words, this is what he liked best: Kicking the ball, Playing Sharks and Ninos and getting his trophy.

NC=The Beach (Oct. 19, 2009)

The beach is a wonderful place. What great memories and experiences take place with just sand, water and the sun shinning down upon us.

This was our first visit to a North Carolina Beach. The Crystal Coast - Atlantic Beach was amazing! We now see and understand why everyone talks about the North Carolina Beaches. We had the pleasure of staying 2 nights at the Sheraton Atlantic Beach Oceanfront Hotel which had pier and beach access. The kids loved the little playground that was set up just outside the hotel doors and footsteps from the beach. We had pleasant weather, with no crowds (since it was the off-season).

We enjoyed walking along the wooden pier where men and women were fishing, collecting and bringing home huge seashells. Also, we found it interesting that shrimp was being sold on the corners of streets. We enjoyed eating dinner at a seafood place called Sanitary Fish where we tried their famous Tar Heel Hush Puppies and some East Coast Oysters. We explored Fort Macon State Park (the pentagon-shaped fortress was the military home to General Robert E. Lee when he was a young Army officer.) At Fort Macon we saw a couple catch and release a string ray, which was a first-time experience for all of us. The only thing we wished we could have done but because of time restrictions didn't get to do was the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores- hopefully, next time.

Where have we been? Everywhere....

The last 4 weeks have been crazy....Here is my attempt in catching up on all of the important things. Like these random but great pictures from oh early October....

First: Where do we live? On a farm? In the country? In between some corn & bean fields?

Seriously, these wild bunnies have been enjoying our good grass and leaving behind the dried up brown grass.

Second: Safety first: The kids must have been sick of me telling them to be careful not to hit the fireplace. To solve the issue the kids put all of the blankets and pillows here so they would be safe if by chance they should fall while JUMPING from bean bag to bean bag.

Third: Every princess needs a Knight in Shinning Armor

Baby BOY to arrive March of 2010

Pedal, Pedal, Pedal

Pedal, Pedal, Pedal!!! This is what she says over and over again while she is riding her bike. Over the last couple of weeks she has improved so much. At first she would just look down at her feet and now she is looking forward. Just this past weekend, she was able to ride this bike around the block without any problems.

What did we do last week?

Nana & Papa came to visit us....

The year 2009 celebates Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday.

We went to Springfield, IL to see the many Abraham Lincoln sites!

While we were in Springfield we learned alot about Abraham Lincoln....

Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky, spent his youth in Indiana, and made Illinois his home.

Our next stop was to the Indianapolis Children's Musuem - We have been to many children's museums and this one still is one of the best.

Further in the week went to Marengo Cave, where we took a walking tour of the Dripstone trail. It was about a one mile tour which took about an hour - The guide stops often to talk about the different formations that were we seeing.

On our way home from Marengo Cave we stopped in Santa Clause, Indiana to walk though some of the shops. J even wrote a letter to Santa and put it an a special mailbox just for him.
